Samsung always releases beautiful notebooks, and its Samsung Series 9 is amazingly thin and fabulous. Though this ultraportable notebook was revealed last year, it won many fans due to its unique look. In the year of 2012, Samsung will release a more common material for their next gen rather than the Duralumin material. Samsung plans to start selling their new and improved Samsung Series 9 premium ultraportable laptop computers starting on February 27, 2012. Prices will start at $1,399.99 for a 13.3” model and at $1,499.99 for a 15” model.
The new second generation Samsung Series 9 laptops not only use a different design material than last years model, but they also look different and offer more portable dimensions. According to Samsung they’ve dropped weight by 30% down to 2.5 lbs. for the new second gen. 13.3″ Series 9 laptop over the previous years 13.3″ model, also the thickness is down to just half of an inch for the 13.3″ second gen. Series 9 laptop. The 15-inch model will weight a little more at 3.5 lbs. and measure a bit thicker at 0.58-inches.
Unlike last years Samsung Series 9 release the new second gen. models will launch with 13.3-inch and 15-inch display size options. Previously the only option other than a 13.3-inch Series 9 was a smaller 11.6-inch Series 9. Samsung probably chose to offer a 15-inch model to combat any possible 15-inch Apple Macbook Air. Samsung has high quality Samsung screen, and its laptop screens replacement are used by many notebook manufacturers.
Features wise Samsung says users can expect the second gen. Series 9 ultraportable’s to feature Intel’s Core i5-2467M 1.60 GHz dual-core processor, a 128GB SSD, 1366×768 resolution (13.3″) or 1600×900 resolution (15″) Samsung SuperBright (400-nit max. brightness) LED display with a sunlight-friendly matte finish, 4GB (13.3″) or 8GB (15″) of DDR3 RAM, USB 3.0, a multi-card reader, a backlit keyboard, up to 7 hours of battery life for the 13.3″ model and up to 10 hours for the 15-inch model, the batteries in each second gen. Series 9 features Samsung Battery Life Plus technology which protects 80% of the laptop batteries life through 1,500 different charge cycles. You don’t need to buy new replacement laptop battery like usual notebooks.
